People's Garden Project - Grass roots community gardens were popular in the past and today some communities continue to have them. The Van Buren Farm Service Agency is partnering with other groups in Van Buren County to develop small plots where vegetables may be grown. Van Buren County Hospital is a 25-bed, Critical Access hospital, offering general acute care, skilled nursing, and long-term care to our community. They provide a full range of services from home care to hospice inpatient care. The hospital owns and operates seven medical clinics throughout the county to provide care for our community. Keosauqua, the county seat of Van Buren county is the largest of the "villages". As it has been through its rich history, Keosauqua today remains a bustling business center. The courthouse, county government offices and hospital are here. It is also home to Barker Company Ltd., Barker Wire, and Eagle Plastics/Plaza Enterprises, all nationally known industries.
